ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Hotel prices in Atlanta are expected to soar ahead of the FIFA World Cup’s arrival.
Construction is nearly complete at the new Moxy Hotel on Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta. The hotel will open just in time for the World Cup.
Moxy general manager Alfonce McKinney said that a normal night might run you as low as $200, but during the World Cup that rate could jump to as much as $1,500 for one night.
“For World Cup obviously that’s going to go up and I think it’s going to go up everywhere in the city and it’s going to be competitive in a price range say from $700 to $1,500 right, anywhere you go,” McKinney said.
You can expect to pay anywhere from 300% to as much as 600% more a night during the World Cup, regardless of which hotel you choose.
