WHITEHALL, Ohio — Whitehall Mayor Michael Bivens is calling for the resignation of Councilmember Gerald Dixon as he faces charges of sex crimes. If Dixon will not resign, Bivens expects the Whitehall City Council to motion to remove Dixon.

“It is my stance of the mayor of the city of Whitehall and assuring them that I will take all steps necessary to protect the public safety of this city,” Bivens said.

Bivens sat down with 10TV’s Collin Dorsey Wednesday afternoon to discuss the allegations against the Coucilman and what actions the city plans to take during this time.

If Dixon does not resign from his seat, his fellow councilmembers can motion to remove him. However, council rules require a unanimous vote to remove him.
