A farm in Northern California has recalled more than 1,500 dozen eggs because of possible salmonella contamination. The eggs came from Vega Farms in Dixon and were sold in the Sacramento and Davis areas. Officials say the recall affects both grocery stores and farmers markets.
The California Department of Public Health announced the recall after testing showed contamination linked to the farm’s processing equipment. The problem did not come from the chickens themselves, but from machinery used to handle the eggs.
The recalled eggs were sold in 12-count cartons and 30-count flats. They can be identified by handler code 2136, Julian dates of 328 or earlier, and sell-by dates of December 22, 2025, or earlier.
