ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy vetoed a recent vote by the Alexandria City Council to revert the City’s district maps to a version from 2022, the Mayor’s Office announced on Wednesday, December 10.

The vote in question was passed 4-3 at the City Council meeting on December 2 and is the third vote to redistrict the City of Alexandria in four years.

Prior to Wednesday’s action, Mayor Roy held two Mayoral Briefings : one to take questions from the city council and a second to take questions from the public.

At Monday’s briefing, Councilwoman Lizzie Felter, who represents District 4, spoke out against the vote. The boundary for District 4 in the 2022 map did not include her neighborhood and presented a possible legal challenge to her eligibility. However, she argue
