Kitty Hawk Council approves key permit for Royal Farms project
By Kip Tabb | Outer Banks Voice
At its Dec. 1 meeting, the Kitty Hawk Town Council unanimously approved a special use permit (SUP) for a Royal Farms convenience store and gas station at 5416 N. Croatan Highway in Kitty Hawk.
The SUP approved by the town fulfills the permit requirements for Royal Farms to begin work on the project. The plans call for removing an existing septic system and tying the store’s system into the existing wastewater treatment system being used by businesses in the Shoreside Center.
Town Planner Rob Testerman told the Voice that the permit for that work is not issued by the town, but “is done through…the [Dare County] Environmental Health Department.”
