A large frame does not shield a dog from fear. Even the biggest pups can carry hidden scars, and Bobby is a clear example of that truth.

When he first reached a shelter in Pennsylvania, he shut down completely. He pressed himself into the farthest corner of a small kennel, curled tightly as if hoping the world would disappear. He would not budge, too overwhelmed to face anything unfamiliar.

Bobby had been discarded by a commercial breeder who no longer found him “useful.” With that decision, everything he had ever known was gone.

He had never been given warmth, companionship, walks, or the consistency of a predictable routine. His existence had been shaped by loneliness and neglect. That chapter, however, was nearing its end.
