KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WRDW/WAGT) - Following a breakout freshman campaign, Tennessee wide receiver Braylon Staley has been named the 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year.

The redshirt freshman played at Aiken High School before transferring to Strom Thurmond where he later graduated.

Staley becomes just the third Volunteer to earn the award, joining Peyton Manning (1994) and Jamal Lewis (1997).

The Aiken native finished in the top ten in every receiving category in the SEC. His 64 receptions were the most among Tennessee receivers.

In 2025, Staley has hauled in 64 passes for 806 yards and 6 touchdowns.

His best game to date came in a 34-31 win over Arkansas, hauling in six passes for 109 yards. He enjoyed a two touchdown performance in a 33-23 loss to Oklahoma.
