MUSKEGON, Mich. — Fallout continues from the City of Muskegon’s vote to shut down the Fisherman’s Landing Campground and relocate Mart Dock operations to the site.
Many in the community are now asking, what’s next?
"We tried to get the truth out that it's just a bad deal for the citizens," said Alan Batka. "We're giving up 15 acres for a sidewalk."
Batka, who heads up the Save Fisherman’s Landing group, is one of many community members disappointed in the Muskegon City Commission’s decision to approve a land swap that gives Mart Dock control of the Fisherman’s Landing Campground.
City Manager Jonathan Seyferth said the development deal is a good thing for the city, but adds that the bulk of the redevelopment won't happen in the short term.
