HARTFORD, CT. (WFSB) - The Hartford Wolf Pack lost their second consecutive game Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The Wolf Pack outshot the Penguins 20-6 in the first period but could not get the puck past goaltender Sergei Murashov, who made 20 saves to keep the game scoreless through one period.
Phil Tomasino broke the deadlock 2:59 into the second period with his second goal of the season. He got behind the Wolf Pack defense and beat Spencer Martin with a backhand shot to make it 1-0.
Avery Hayes extended the lead to 2-0 at 9:07 of the second period. He found himself alone on a breakaway after getting behind the defense and lifted a backhand shot over Martin’s right pad.
It was the second time this season that Hayes scored against Hartford.
