SEATTLE — A 75-year-old woman was left blind in one eye and suffered serious facial injuries after a random assault Friday in downtown Seattle.
Jeanette Marken spoke exclusively with KING 5 on Wednesday, sharing her story for the first time.
Marken was delivering food orders around noon Friday at Third Avenue and James Street when she says she was blindsided. Marken speaks Spanish and her son, Andrius Dyrikis, helped to translate.
“She just needed to cross the street on the red light, like, she was waiting for the red light to change," he said.
Police say the suspect, 42-year-old Fale Pea, approached Marken from behind and struck her with a wooden plank with a long metal screw at the end.
"There were no observed prior interactions between the defendant or victim before he assaulted
