Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina's social media post directed at former mayoral candidate Darren White has sparked public debate following White's concession to Mayor Tim Keller on Tuesday night.

White, conceding the race to Keller shortly after preliminary voting results on Tuesday night, said, "I called Mayor Keller just a little bit ago, and I congratulated him on the win."

Less than an hour later, Medina posted on the ABQ Police Chief's official 'X' account, "@DarrenPWhite, Guess I get to retire on my own terms. Have a good life."

This post followed Keller's statement from earlier this year that he would be selecting a new police chief if he won a third term, telling KOAT, "Well, I'll be looking for a new police chief, with another term for sure."
