SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A little burst of upper-level energy is sweeping past the eastern United States today, and it’s tugging a dry cold front down across the Florida Peninsula. Because the colder air trails behind the front and arrives mostly during daylight hours today, it won’t lower our temperatures that much during our sunny daytime hours. Its main impact will be a few more clouds and an uptick in wind speeds. But once the sun goes down and the winds calm Thursday night, the atmosphere sets the perfect stage for good old-fashioned radiational cooling. In plain English: clear skies plus light winds equals a pretty chilly Friday morning. Watch for temperatures to drop into the upper 40s.
