The first round of the Liverpool & District Angling Association Individual League took place on Sunday, which saw 45 canal men lined up on the match length from the Running Horses at Lydiate, going through Westway and finishing on the Legion side of Shop Lane in Maghull . This one will see 10 matches available for all the competitors to access on the series with dates running through the spring until May.

It will allow three matches to be dropped with just seven of those available accountable to enable the best scores to be delivered. The top four positions will receive a share of the £1,000 prize money donated by the L&DAA, split between them.

The occasion was, however, dampened by the continuous rain that greeted the field from the 11am start, which ironically probably saw the match
