JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — The Janesville Fire Department presented a site idea for constructing a new building for Fire Station Number Three.
Currently located across from Franklin Middle School, the station was built in 1969 and has expanded since, including an addition in 2001 and bringing in an ambulance company in 2022.
"Our initial thought was we would use if possible the existing building, or at least that existing site," said Janesville Fire Chief Ryan Murphy.
After conducting an analysis, they found they need an almost 11,000-square-foot facility. The current location cannot accommodate a building of that size.
They are now considering a new site just south of Franklin Middle School.
