BROCKTON, Mass. —

A hand recount Wednesday confirmed the results of Brockton's November mayoral election.

With a difference of 259 votes, the city's election board certified Moises Rodrigues as mayor-elect.

The four-day-long recount came after the opposing mayoral candidate, Jean-Bradley Derenoncourt, claimed ballots were mishandled, which changed the outcome.

"We do believe that while the votes were certified and this process was conducted well, the election was not conducted fairly," said Derenoncourt's counsel, Mary Lacivita.

She said the election was corrupt and plans to take their case to court.

"There was tampering with the voters, there were promises made to voters to coerce their votes, and while we do have witnesses, we have requested video footage," Lacivita said.
