WORCESTER, Mass. —
A man and a woman are under arrest after they refused to exit their sport utility vehicle and drove through several yards during a standoff in Worcester and Paxton, police said Thursday.
Worcester police were trying to arrest a man while he was in his vehicle with a woman Wednesday at 7:20 p.m. on South Orlean Street. Police said the man refused to comply, and a negotiation team was called to the scene.
The man backed the vehicle up through back yards to Benjamin Road, police said.
He then drove his vehicle up onto roads and eventually got stuck near Skeeter Pond, where the man and woman were taken into custody, police said.
Officials said the woman was not being held against her will.
The suspects' names have not been released.
