The Bellevue City Council took a look at the city’s existing driveways that cross city-owned rights of way on Monday in order to consider changes to current regulations.
City staff members are advising that the city require fewer and narrower driveways in the future to improve safety and street maintenance operations and for aesthetic reasons.
City Planner Carter Bullock delivered a presentation to the City Council on Monday that included aerial views of city blocks in Bellevue where wide driveway approaches (the sections that cross rights of ways) are causing challenges for snow removal and safety issues for pedestrians.
Bullock’s presentation was the first in a series of right-of-way discussions the City Council is expected to weigh in on during upcoming meetings.
