A man who had climbed a coconut tree to pluck coconuts died on the tree itself after suffering a heart attack near the Jalakada Katte area of Kattilu.

The deceased has been identified as Jayarama Shetty (75). A resident of Mukka in Suratkal, Jayarama Shetty had climbed the coconut tree on Wednesday using a mechanical device at his farmland near Kattilu.

He reportedly suffered a heart attack while atop the tree. As no one was around at the time, the incident went unnoticed. Later in the evening, locals spotted a person hanging on the tree and alerted the fire brigade and Bajpe Police.
