Police have taken into custody two suspects involved in a daylight theft at an arecanut and forest produce purchase centre located in the commercial complex near Gandhi Park. The accused had allegedly broken into the shop and stolen ₹5 lakh in cash along with a bag containing documents and cheques.

The arrested individuals, identified as Muhammad Shahbad (26) and Jamsheed (25), both residents of Mudigere, were earlier apprehended by N.R. Pura Police in Chikkamagaluru district in connection with another theft case. During interrogation, the duo reportedly confessed to the Uppinangady theft as well, following which Uppinangady Police secured their custody and registered a case.
