Spikes of the influenza virus are being recorded all over the UK, with many infections being due to the new H3N2 strain - otherwise known as subclade k. According to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) , the flu is now circulating at 'medium' levels following increased activity.

It notes that influenza positivity increased with a weekly mean positivity rate of 17.1% compared to just 11.6% in the previous week. Furthermore, hospital admissions for the flu were increasing at 7.79% per 100,000 compared to 4.78% per 100,000 in the last previous week.
