Job losses are expected to be made at a Northumberland logistics depot linked to a major employer, it has emerged. Approximately 47 jobs are believed to be under threat at the DHL depot linked to the Essity factory at Prudhoe Mill.

The Prudhoe Mill facility serves as the North East base for the global tissue manufacturer, making products under well-known brands such as Tena, Bodyform, Velvet, Cushelle, and Plenty. Earlier this year, Essity – the UK's largest user of recycled fibre in household tissue – transitioned production from its 50 year old plant to a newly built £30m recycling facility situated nearby.

Essity collaborates with DHL for product distribution, and while DHL has not confirmed the exact number of potential job cuts, it has revealed plans to restructure its operations
