MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that shut down the interstate in Wilson County early Thursday morning.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the crash occurred on I-40 East near the Highway 109 overpass just after midnight.

Mt. Juliet PD reported that the crash involved “serious injuries,” but the THP confirmed that at least one person was killed in the crash.

All the eastbound lanes of I-40 are closed from Mt. Juliet Road to Highway 109. Eastbound traffic is being diverted off the interstate at Mt. Juliet Road. Drivers should expect delays in the area.
