NORTH CAROLINA, USA — A 74-year-old woman was killed Wednesday in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 64 just west of Plymouth, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 2:50 p.m. when a 2016 Nissan traveling west crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2020 Western Star dump truck carrying asphalt.

The Nissan’s driver, Elaine Gregory Bradley of Corolla, died at the scene. The dump truck driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville.

The investigation is ongoing.
