The Arizona kingpin of a 35-member criminal organization was sentenced to life in prison for efforts to smuggle hundreds of pounds of fentanyl from Mexico into the U.S. inside shipping containers and other products, prosecutors said.
The Mexico-to-U.S. ring funneled drugs into Cleveland, Seattle, and parts of Indiana, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties – and Marcos Monarrez Jr., 26, of Phoenix, was accused of continuing to run the organization while being lodged in the Cambria County Prison. ×
