They have now gone 15 Test matches in Australia without a victory, stretching back 15 years to the 2010-11 series.
Lose again in Adelaide next week and the series will be lost. Even a draw would mean they cannot regain the Ashes given Australia are the holders, although it would certainly be a significant improvement on the performances in Perth and Brisbane, where the Australians have earned a 2-0 lead in just six cumulative days of cricket.
