1TOMS RIVER, NJ – Two Ocean County hospitals were placed on lockdown Tuesday after receiving bomb threats that prompted emergency sweeps by law enforcement, authorities said.
The threats targeted Community Medical Center in Toms River and Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood.
No explosives were found, and both facilities have since reopened.
Hospitals evacuated and searched
Officials said the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit conducted thorough searches of both hospitals, confirming that the threats were unfounded. The lockdowns were lifted once the sweeps produced negative results.
Law enforcement responded quickly to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors while coordinating with hospital security teams.
