Wenne Alton Davis, an actress known for her roles in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “New Amsterdam,” died Monday after she was struck by a car. She was 60.
Davis was hit by an SUV at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 8, The New York Times reported . She was brought to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Davis’s agent, Jamie Harris, also confirmed to NYT that she died in the crash.
Born Wendy Davis on Oct. 18, 1965, in Durham, North Carolina, the actress moved to New York in her late 20s. She started out as a stand-up comedian before switching to acting. Harris said Davis worked full time as a customs agent at John F. Kennedy International Airport but took acting jobs on the side.
