LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The holiday season has arrived, and with it comes the pressure of expensive gift shopping for many families.
But thanks to a long-running Salvation Army initiative, community members across Mid-Michigan are stepping in to help make Christmas brighter for local children.
Thousands of children may go without a gift this year, but the Angel Tree program is working to change that.
At The Fledge in Lansing, CEO Jerry Norris and his team launched an Angel Tree specifically for teenagers
“Within the first hour of publishing the sign-up sheet, we had already had 80 kids sign up. We tried to limit it to 125, but that filled up within a day or so. So then we opened it to 150, and then it got up to 180. And still today, we’re getting requests for adding the kids,” said Nor
