EXCLUSIVE: Indie distributor Hope Runs High will hand The Mountain , the debut feature from Kiwi filmmaker and longtime Taika Waititi collaborator Rachel House, a theatrical release in the U.S.
The Mountain debuted at TIFF in 2024. The coming-of-age dramedy follows three young friends as they embark on an adventure across New Zealand to find healing under the watchful eye of the dormant volcano Mount Taranaki.
“We’re thrilled for the film to be released stateside and sharing a film about the importance of friendship to overcome almost anything, and the indigenous concept that a connection to nature and place can heal you,” House said in a statement.
