The Federal Reserve's benchmark rate has fallen by a collective 0.75% this year, thanks to the Fed issuing three 25-basis-point cuts in recent months. In all, the Fed rate has dropped 1.75% since September 2024, which marked the first federal funds rate cut in four years .
