FRYEBURG, Maine — Crews in Fryeburg were responding Thursday morning to a propane gas leak on Bradley Street near Fryeburg Academy.

According to the Fryeburg Fire Department, a plow truck apparently struck an underground tank, which caused a propane gas leak. Emergency crews evacuated the immediate area and closed off Bradley Street.

In an update shared at 10:30 a.m., fire officials said they expected the road to be closed for several more hours while service technicians and fire personnel worked to unload the tank and secure the area.

The fire department shared another update shortly after 5:30 p.m., stating that the transfer would require more time. As a result, Bradley Street and several school buildings near the incident would remain closed until the area was secured.
