Chillicothe — City Council met two days after they had far less than a quorum because of a local Republican event…and criticism of that absenteeism continued.

Council had full attendance on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 – after only two council members attended Monday’s regular session and council president Kevin Shoemaker confirmed that they would meet again.

The Ross County Republican party had hosted Vivek Ramaswamy, the GOP candidate for Ohio governor, in their 2025 Christmas Gala on Monday evening. The 2024 Republican primary presidential candidate spoke at the sold-out event.

Probably all Republican officeholders in and representing Ross County were in attendance, in an event that was more of a seasonal political gathering – like what both parties host – than a party or ball
