A 48-year-old Guelph man, wanted in connection with an incident where a Guelph police cruiser was rammed with two children in the back seat, faces a list of charges.
Police said on Friday, at around 7:45 p.m., officers followed up on a report of a suspicious vehicle on Speedvale Avenue East. They found a man sleeping in the driver’s seat with two young children in car seats in the back.
The man told officers he had driven a friend and was waiting for her to come back, police said.
While officers were doing further investigation, the man reversed the car, striking a cruiser and causing minor damage, before speeding away from the scene, police said.
The car was later located near Victoria Road North and Brant Avenue, and the children were safe inside a nearby residence.
