ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A box truck driver died Thursday morning after the truck veered off I-95 in St. Johns County and crashed into the woods, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
The driver was identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as a 63-year-old Interlachen man.
According to the crash report, the box truck veered off the southbound side of the interstate and hit several trees for reasons Florida Highway Patrol said are under investigation. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash caused heavy traffic in the area of mile marker 314, just before County Road 214. All responders appeared to leave the scene just before 5 p.m. and lanes were fully reopened.
