A special court in Nampally on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Telangana endowments minister Konda Surekha in connection with a defamation case filed by BRS working president and former minister K T Rama Rao (KTR).

The case pertains to Surekha’s objectionable comments last year against KTR, linking him to the divorce of actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya with actress Samantha.

According to court records, the minister did not appear before the court despite earlier summons. Following this, the special court issued a non-bailable warrant to secure her presence.

After issuing the warrant, the court adjourned the case to February 5, 2026. The proceedings are expected to intensify, given the political sensitivities and the stature of the individuals involved.
