NEWBERRY, S.C. (WIS) - Newberry College is sending off its football team to the NCAA Division II semifinals on Thursday.

The Wolves will be heading to Big Rapids, Michigan, where they’ll take on Ferris State in the first of two semifinal games on Saturday.

Saturday will mark Newberry’s first appearance in the semifinals in program history and it’ll be the first-ever meeting between the Wolves and Bulldogs.

Newberry’s path has included a 9-1 regular season and the team’s third South Atlantic Conference title in five years. Newberry then defeated Kentucky State in the first round of the D2 playoffs, followed by road wins over West Florida and Albany State to punch their ticket to the semifinals.

Ferris State, meanwhile, is 14-0 and comes in as the national top seed in the bracket.
