Schools are being encouraged to take part in a free rail safety education programme.

Greater Anglia is supporting the scheme, delivered in partnership with Rail Safe Friendly, to improve rail safety awareness among children and young people across the region.

Last year, Greater Anglia sponsored 149 schools to take part in the programme, reaching more than 91,500 pupils.

It will sponsor another 150 schools this year and is inviting schools across its network to apply.

Georgia Payne, safeguarding and community safety manager at Greater Anglia, said: "This year, we are sponsoring another 150 schools, and the feedback from both pupils and teachers has been extremely positive.
