Two hikers who both sustained minor injuries were rescued Wednesday at Pushawalla Palms Trail near Indio and Bear Creek Oasis Trail in La Quinta.

The first rescue was reported shortly before 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at 77500 Calle Tecate. The second rescue was reported at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said both hikers were in distress, and were airlifted by helicopter and taken to a hospital by ground ambulances.

No further information about the injuries was immediately provided.

A La Quinta man died earlier in December on the Boo Hoff Trail in La Quinta.
