DES MOINES, Iowa —
Dozens of school districts have announced early dismissals Thursday due to snow and ice in the forecast.

A winter weather advisory is set to kick in at noon Thursday for approximately half the state, ranging from the northwest corner of the state to the southeast corner . Polk County was added to the advisory Thursday morning, and Story, Marshall, Poweshiek, Hamilton and Webster counties are also included.
As of 10:50 a.m., districts including Algona, Eagle Grove, East Marshall, Fort Dodge, Grinnell, Iowa Falls, Nevada and South Hamilton are dismissing early Thursday. You can see our updated closings and dismissals list here .
