Saguaro High School Athletic Director Lucas Ackerson has resigned his position among allegations that he inappropriately contacted a female student through social media.

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board accepted his resignation by a 5-0 vote during it’s Dec. 9 meeting. Ackerson was hired by SUSD in July 2023.

The district sent a message following the meeting to Mohave Middle School and Saguaro High School parents and staff stating that the girl and her parents informed Saguaro High School officials on Nov. 25 that Ackerson had sent her direct messages through a social media app.

“The district is grateful that the student had the courage to come forward and inform the administration of the inappropriate behavior,” the letter said.
