This is the moment a Birmingham gunman questioned 'what for mate' as he was arrested in a 'first-of-its-kind' police investigation.

Banaras Malang, aged 33, was trying to convert nine blank-firing guns into deadly firearms at his Tyseley home.

He had gone to "great lengths" to cover his tracks, including using fake names and taking advantage of a vulnerable man to order equipment.

However Malang, of Wandle Grove, was rumbled over the plan and has now been jailed for eight years for possessing the weapons.

"Malang was clearly intent on converting these weapons so that they could become lethal firearms, and they would undoubtedly have gone on to been used to commit crime causing untold fear and potential fatality," said Det Insp Amar Patel from the Regional Organised Crime Unit.
