ANGELA Constance is safe in her role as Justice Secretary as the Greens have refused to back a Labour-Tory bid to oust her.

A row erupted this week after Constance was accused of misleading Parliament and misrepresenting comments made by a grooming gangs expert.

Both Scottish Labour and the Scottish Tories have lodged motions calling for a vote of no confidence in the Justice Secretary.

The Greens have said survivors “deserve better” than the row being turned into a party political issue.

Any motion calling for such a vote requires 25 MSPs to back it, making it likely one will be held next week once the Scottish Parliament’s bureau has met to agree the week’s agenda.
