Shillong, Dec 11: Regulated electrical shutdowns are currently being faced by consumers in Shillong and Tura as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a critical initiative aimed at strengthening the power infrastructure in the state.
The RDSS scheme involves the installation of approximately 2,600 new transformers, replacement of 3,800km of old wires, and the laying of 4,300km of new lines.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the project valued at Rs 900 crore is being implemented to ensure a more stable and reliable power supply for the people of Meghalaya.
