The historic Jackson Barracks in the Lower 9th Ward opened its gates recently for a holiday fete with performances by local high school bands and choirs, children’s activities and more. Guests strolled down Beauregard Street under the lighted oaks, taking in views of Jackson Barracks’ antebellum homes. One of the oldest active military posts in the country, the barracks are home to the Louisiana National Guard. Event proceeds go to the LNG Foundation.
