BUNNELL, Fla — A jury in Flagler County found a former paramedic guilty of rape on Thursday, the State Attorney's Office Seventh Judicial Circuit has announced.

According to a police report from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, on Oct. 17, 2021, James Tyler Melady, 37, was on shift when he responded to a call where an "unresponsive and intoxicated" woman was located and transported to a local hospital.

The report says that two videos of Melady, which depicted him setting up a recording device and "clearly committing the acts during a call for service and during the course of his duties," were obtained by the Daytona Beach Police Department, who were said to have been investigating another possible offense.
