These are some of the programs Michigan House Republicans stripped state funding from after voting Wednesday to halt nearly $645 million in continued support, House Democrats say.
“Yesterday’s vote was in truth one of the most corrupt abuses of power and unprecedented displays of cruelty that I’ve ever seen during my time here in Lansing,” state Rep. Will Snyder, D-Muskegon, told reporters Thursday. “This budget instrument was never intended for this purpose and using it with such haste and scale proves the dangerous nature of crossing pre-existing and long-standing lines, even if potentially legally permissible.
