SALEM, Ind. (WAVE) - Michael Baird has spent years running Cornucopia Farm located near Salem, Indiana. Baird says a $12 billion farm aid package announced Monday by the Trump administration is helpful, and humbling.

The aid package is to offset losses by this year’s tariff wars, combined with challenging weather and crop-growing conditions. Checks are slated to be in the mail by late February. How much farmers nationwide will receive will be decided by the end of December, according to United States Department of Agriculture officials.
