LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg provided an update on the UPS plane crash site cleanup.
UPS 2976 bound to Honolulu crashed on takeoff at Muhammad Ali International Airport on Nov. 4. The crew was killed along with 11 people on the ground. The plane’s number one engine appeared to fall off on takeoff and the plane crashed into the area of Grade Lane, impacting multiple businesses and causing serious structural damages and major fire.
Louisville Metro Emergency Services executive director Jody Meiman said that progress is being made. Businesses near Don Huston Boulevard are back open.
Businesses west of Grade Lane have had gas and electric service restored.
