DEPEW, N.Y. — A Depew teen has been sentenced to prison after he seriously wounded a person in a shooting, according to Erie County District Attorney's Office.

District Attorney Michael Keane says Mikhaeel Abdul-Jaleel, 18, was denied youthful offender adjudication and sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

According to the DA's Office, on May 7, 2025, Abdul-Jaleel shot a 20-year-old female victim outside of a store on Broadway in the Village of Depew. The victim was transported to ECMC with serious physical injuries.

Police say Abdul-Jaleel, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was arrested later that night.
