Snow-removal trucks will take to the streets of Montreal Friday morning for the city’s first snow-removal operation of the season.

The operation is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. in all boroughs.

The City of Montreal says boroughs are authorized to begin snow removal immediately on reserved lanes, drop-off zones, school zones, and bike paths.

Nearly 3,000 workers and 2,500 snow-removal vehicles will take part in the operation across the network’s 11,000 kilometres of road.

The city is vowing to pay particular attention to clearing sidewalks and to quickly remove parking restrictions once snow loading is complete.

It also says Montrealers can track snow-removal operations in real time using its 311 Montreal app. A map to find free parking spaces is available online.
